Oh it’s another month, August. I can’t believe the summer is almost over. Where did the time go? Seriously? The other day I was out walking after a week of being locked up in the office and noticed the leaves are beginning to change colours already. I love autumn, but it will be sad to see the summer go. One things for sure, we will always have good music to remind us of all the great experiences we had this summer. Nothing beats a good playlist, every month I fall in love with something new. Aren’t you glad that there are so many talented beings in the universe? I sure am. Below is my latest loves for the month of August.
If this is the first time you are hearing about the X Ambassadors, it certainly won’t be the last. I discovered them thanks to the Official Jeep Renegade Commercial. I guess it’s a perfect fit because they happen to have a song titled Renegades. Sometimes you don’t pay attention to the music in commercials, but their song Renegades had me. With just one listen, you want to play it again and again. So, of course I needed to hear more of their stuff and I was more than happy I did. I pretty much love the whole album which is rare for me.
Notable Songs: Renegades, Unsteady & Lowlife
Grace Potter is another one of those voices you are more than happy to listen to. This is Potter’s first solo album. You might be familiar with her band Grace Potter and The Nocturnals. I will tell you this is a big departure from what you know of her. It’s completely different and this isn’t a bad thing. Potter’s soulful edgy voice still takes centre stage; she continues to deliver on this front. If you went to Osheaga you were lucky enough to see her perform this new album live. I know it’s not always easy to accept change, but once you move past what you know of Potter and her band, you will find yourself dancing with the rest of us.
Notable Songs: Empty Heart, Looks What We’ve Become & Delirious
Ms. Del Ray has released a new single, High By The Beach. It’s just one song for now, but this is more than enough to get you through the rest of the summer. We will have to wait for more music to drop by Del Ray. I will tell you that this latest release doesn’t steer away from her signature mellow vibe. It’s pretty much what you love about Del Ray. One could say that she is in a league of her own in terms of sound.
