I have been looking for a GREAT green luxe make-up brand. I emphasize great because although there are many brands available now, I can say from experience that I haven’t discovered anything that I would consider great until I tried RMS Beauty. Obviously, cruelty-free is top of the list but that doesn’t mean a product with this label isn’t full of chemicals and toxins. I wanted something with clean ingredients, nourishing and just as good as what the pros use. I definitely feel that you will agree that looking good is effortless with RMS Beauty. I think beauty should be effortless therefore you won’t find me walking around with a pound of makeup on my face. My daily routine consists of just a few products: moisturizer, lip tint, mascara and if needed a dab of concealer to cover up small sunspots or blemishes.
I have so much love for RMS Beauty that I thought it would be great for you to get to know a little more about the brand with the help of its founder, pro-makeup artist Rose-Marie Swift.
TTIWIK: What made you want to start a natural beauty and make-up brand?
After working many years in the fashion and make-up industry, I’ve learned a lot about the impact of daily exposure to chemicals in beauty care products. I’ve seen what works and what doesn’t live up to its promises. I see the results of taking a quick-fix approach to looking good. I know first-hand the price our health can pay in the pursuit of beauty. I realized that what women need is a cosmetics line that is as pure as possible, one that creates a solid foundation for anti-ageing and long-term beauty.
TTIWIK: You use a lot of natural oils in your cream-based products, can you give us some tips on how to best use these products?
I am a fan of skin-to-skin application as I believe it creates a more beautiful finish to the skin. I did, however, design some award-winning brushes for each product that actually mimics skin-to-skin application and does wonders for an easy fast application that looks just as good.
TTIWIK: What’s your ultimate skincare tip?
The biggest tip is “less is more” and that is what RMS Beauty is all about. This colour makeup line was specifically designed to work synergistically with the skin, rather than just covering it up! The Living Luminizer, which is my star product. It actually was responsible for putting me on the map, because there’s nothing that compares to it. It is loaded with organic ingredients, healthy for the skin, and doesn’t dry up or look cakey. Dab it on the elevated parts of your face, like your cheekbones, a little in the center of your eyelid, above your iris area, down the center of your nose, corner of your eye, on your lips. It just gives this light-reflective glow that makes the skin look youthful.
Always have in hand the Raw Coconut Cream, as a makeup remover and a moisturizer—or even a little bit in your bathwater!—because your skin is the largest organ, so you want to take care of it. Doubles as a hair conditioner and also helps ease sunburns.
The other one would be my Beauty Oil (a great remedy for sunburns also). It is formulated with Brazilian Buriti oil that is known for its high levels of natural vitamin A and beta carotene. It also contains adaptogenic herbs that balance the skin. It does wonders for the skin—especially for people with rosacea, eczema or psoriasis and yes, even acne.

TTIWIK: How do you select the ingredients for each product? Do you think about what it does for the skin in terms of nourishment or treating skin concerns such as acne and hyper-pigmentation?
All of the above. Our selection of the highest quality raw ingredients is based on cultivation and processing criteria that set this line apart from others. I always say “When a raw material is processed for use in cosmetics, it typically undergoes a lengthy process. I discovered the majority of ingredients used for natural cosmetics (organic or not) go through multiple steps from deodorizing, refining, and fractionating etc. during production to heating. These heating processes can fluctuate to extremely high temperatures, which can, again be repeated during manufacturing. These processes render the ‘natural’ ingredients equivalent to man-made chemicals, stripping away all beneficial nutrients, healing properties and enzymes that support healthy skin and life.”
RMS beauty products, on the other hand, most are formulated with raw, food grade, organic ingredients in their natural state, from cultivation, straight through to manufacturing.
