So many of you have asked me about self-tanner. I thought it was time to feature a self-tanner brand but I wanted to wait until I found a product that works well and doesn’t give you an orange hue. As you know, laying in the sun for hours isn’t cool anymore. I know the sun worshipers still have a hard time with this! Always protect your face in order to prevent sun damage and sunspots. If you are trying to prevent premature aging, protecting your face is essential. I hope you have given up the tanning bed method because that’s just so over at this point in my opinion. With all the great alternatives that don’t cause damage and also nourish your skin in the process, I think it’s silly to stick to any old method that isn’t good for you in the long run. Change is good…getting a luminous golden tan is also good. We want you to have the best golden tan, but it should be safe and most importantly it shouldn’t visibly add years to your age or damage your skin.
ST. TROPEZ
Some of you may have heard of St. Tropez, one of the leading tanning brands known for its streak-free, quick-drying, non-transfer tanning range that is easy to apply. One of the things you will notice about St. Tropez self-tanning products is that there isn’t an awful scent. A lot of self-tanning products smell quite awful and I am sure you’re not a fan either. All their products have a light non-intrusive scent. There are so many for you to choose from to suit your individual needs.
I am not really in need of a tan. But I love adding a bit off bronze to my legs. I am in love with the One Night Only Finishing Gloss. This is great for those who have olive to darker skin who just want to add a nice bronze glow to their bodies or those who are looking for an occasional touch of colour. It works well for all skin tones, apply it to your legs it’s amazing. It’s also non-committal – it washes off but holds in place quite well on your skin.
SELF-TAN EXPRESS
The Express product is for those who want a nice deep golden tan. It goes on darker than the gradual tan product line.
This the first self-tanning face mask available! It’s biodegradable and great for first-time users. Be sure to place the mask below the hairline and don’t keep it on longer than 15 minutes. When you remove it use your fingers to blend the hairline as well as your neck and dĂ©colletage. Face tanning will generally last 2 t0 3 days. The St. Tropez Sheet Mask lasts 5 to 6 days. This sheet mask is infused with Hyaluronic Acid (anti-aging) along with the St. Tropez tanning serum. It’s designed to work with the contours of your face to get a streak-free and even finish.
MASK TIPS FROM PRO TANNER SOPHIE EVANS
- lightly apply a non-oil based moisturizer 1/2 inch for hairline to prevent transfer onto hair.
- When done, remove the mask and use the leftover serum on sheet mask and rub over neck and décolleté to blend tan.
- Dry patches or dark pigmentation areas or areas with enlarged pores – blend with moisturizer on the top.
- Wash your hands with hot water and soap after initial mask application and blending!
You can also get the St. Tropez Self-Tan Express Mouse and use the mouse first and the mist for maintenance.
GRADUAL TAN
This is for those who are new to self-tanning or those who are looking for something that they can build up to the colour they want.
Anti-aging and Anti-cellulite. Â Great for camouflaging bruising and stretch marks. Â Only use this every few days not every day.
SELF TAN TIPS:
- When contouring with the use of a self-tanning product always remember that the base you use should be lighter than the contouring product. Therefore go for a lighter self-tanning option.
- If you have fair skin, a darker base is better suited for you, don’t worry it won’t make you look too dark either but will give you a better colour than a lighter base self-tanner which is better suited for those with darker skin.
- When your tan is fading or getting splotches use a gentle exfoliator. Did you know that it’s important to exfoliate a day or two after application to prevent splotches?
- ONLY apply the product to your body once every two weeks. For your face apply every 4 to 5 days and use the Gradual Tan ( can also be used for your body). Remember the skin on your face is different than your body.
- For removal, use baby oil. Let it sit for 10 minutes and then scrub it off in the shower.
- You don’t have to put self-tanner on evenly – over blending creates streaks. Apply it slowly in sections.
