This isn’t a how-to. No one can tell you how to do life, your life. They can tell you what they have done or how they have overcome obstacles but your journey will be different. Why? Because it’s meant to be different. So how do you find your path? Will there be lights that guide you? Will there be signs? Yes. This is where the beauty lies, you have to find them. If you are lucky you will stumble upon ‘beings’ (people/moments) that will point them out to you, push you in the right direction; give you a nudge. The greatest challenge for most is listening and paying attention. Another challenge is overcoming fear of the unknown.

So where do we begin? If you are reading this, you must be searching. We all stumble and veer off course at least once or twice, or many times over. It’s not until we feel the unsettling darkness within us that we feel that urgency to get back on course, to reevaluate our decisions and what led us, you, to where we are now. If you have stumbled off the road that’s meant to be only travelled by you onto one that’s already worn down with someone else’s footprints. A road where you can feel the unevenness of the earth beneath your feet, making unbearable to walk. Stop. Yes, it’s that simple. I know they said it’s not meant to be easy. But it’s not meant to be this hard.

Get off the path of resistance. This is not your road to travel down. The challenges that will come along the way on your path will build you up and strengthen you, not weaken you. Those who told you otherwise have lied to you. The first lesson in finding your path is learning how to see things and people as they are. The vision can remain but your mind must be clear. In other words, head up in the clouds, feet planted on the earth. Build a bridge between what is and what isn’t. In addition, never let someone tell you what isn’t. Listen, pay attention, what do you see? What do you feel? Here lies the truth. You won’t be able to escape it.

From my experience, anytime I have veered, off the road, my path, taken a detour it’s because I have allowed others to influence my decisions. You have to take accountability for the people you allow to drive with you on your path when you see them on the side of the road with their thumb out, saying “hey, I can help you?”. Our desire to achieve will sometimes lead us to make decisions that don’t elevate or help us in any way. Simply put, it’s easier for people to take advantage of you when you think they can help you achieve what you want. Whatever they tell you, you will believe because, why not? They are playing off your desires. As you go through life you will begin to see that this is a common occurrence. You will encounter people who see your hopes as a weakness. Make them your strength. It’s okay to take a moment, ask yourself important questions. Does this person fit into the equation? How does this feel? More importantly, why?

Part of finding your path is learning when to ask the right questions. Deciphering the difference between doubt and fear. It’s also understanding that some people really don’t want the best for you, or to see you ‘make it’ in whatever you desire. They want something from you but it has nothing to do with the vision you are trying to manifest. Or that calling that God told you to actualize in this manifestation of existence. You are a spiritual being in a human body after all. You have a purpose. There is a reason why you are here.

Never assume that someone will manifest for you. You may think you know this, but most of us don’t realize how we give our power away to others when a shiny offer comes our way. That’s not to say other people can’t help you on your journey, just don’t put everything in their hands – NEVER.

For example, the circus ring leader may be the one who conducts the show but they are certainly not solely responsible for the final product. It’s the performers who work tirelessly behind the scenes. It’s the choreographers and the costume designers, set designers, and lighting technicians that bring the magic. On your path, don’t overlook them. The people who put it all together and often don’t get any recognition. Don’t be decieved by appearances. Also, remember that you can take on all these roles, creating the magic that happens when no one’s looking and proudly be the conductor of your own life. While we let go and surrender to the process we should never give our power away to one human being; anyone.

When you walk your path you don’t get fooled by the show, fall in love with the journey and the moments that spark joy, imagination and cultivate love. When you push away the fear and do it with love. Seriously, with your whole heart, unwavering, nothing can get in your way. The powers that be will guide you along the way. You will see the signs that will tell you to move a little faster, take a moment to rest, what direction to look and who to bring along with you for the ride.

You will get tested. This is why you must keep your instincts sharp. “I don’t know”, means NO. If it doesn’t feel right, this is a good enough answer. What other people think has nothing to do with your greatness. I know you are still wondering, “how do I find my path”. Your path has always been right in front of you. When you were young you saw it clearly. But life and disappointment, fear of judgement, rejection and disapproval have left you weary and without hope. Your path will reveal itself again once you restore hope. The restoration of hope will propel you into action. Ideas manifest from stillness and the fruit grows abundantly as a result of the action.

Remember, your path is always there, it’s yours. You can start again. Pay attention, open your heart, your mind, believe in yourself. There it is, that beautiful light as the sun sets on a cool fall evening lighting the way. Make sure you don’t miss it.
